LAW-8083 NextGen UBE Advanced Survey (Fall Topics)
This course is designed to help students develop the analytical, substantive, and practical lawyering skills necessary for success on the NextGen Bar Exam and in entry-level legal practice. The course integrates substantive review with structured skill development to prepare students to work effectively with the NextGen’s assessment formats: Standalone Multiple-Choice Questions, Integrated Question Sets, and Performance Tasks. Students will be introduced to the Foundational Concepts & Principles and build proficiency in the Foundational Skills assessed on the NextGen Bar Exam. Throughout the course, students will work through NextGen practice questions. These assessments are designed to strengthen essential bar exam competencies, including careful reading comprehension, precise issue identification, rule mastery, and disciplined legal analysis. The course also provides targeted instruction on how to approach the exam’s Performance Tasks, including how to read and synthesize materials from the file and library, organize legal analysis efficiently, and produce clear, professional written work under time constraints. Students will learn practical strategies for managing complex problem sets, structuring written responses, and adapting their reasoning across different question types. Through interactive exercises, guided practice, and skill reinforcement activities, students will strengthen their problem-solving abilities, deepen their understanding of highly tested legal doctrines, and build the adaptability needed to navigate the varied tasks presented on the NextGen Bar Exam. The Fall and Spring NextGen UBE Advanced Survey courses will cover different substantive test topics.Please note - This course is not intended to and does not replace the need for a complete commercial bar review course. To fully prepare for the bar exam, you should plan to take a complete commercial bar review course prior to the bar exam.
