LAW-2125 Consumer Law
We are all consumers. This course will explore the rights and responsibilities of individual and organizational consumers from early days of JFK’s Consumer Bill of Rights to present day applications. We will focus on everyday transactions such as purchases of real-estate, motor vehicles and groceries, actions of debt collectors, landlord tenant transactional relationships as well as special applications to law and medical professionals. We will also consider MGL 93A and procedural requirements of resolving consumer complaints. This course follows a hybrid content delivery model and will include lecture, case analysis, tabletop practical exercise and group presentation(s). Grading will consist of final exam, in class assignments and participation.
