LAW-2154 Employment Law
This course provides a broad survey of the legal implications of the employment relationship, primarily outside of collective bargaining environments. Wrongful discharge claims, employment contracts, conditions of work, employment discrimination, and workplace safety are among the topics covered. While the main focus is practical, we also spend time examining the social and economic implications of regulating the employment relationship. Classes are conducted primarily in discussion mode, along with lectures and review problems. This course is relevant to practice areas such as employment & labor law, business law, general litigation, and public interest law. The course grade is based on a timed, in-class, open book final examination. No laptop use is permitted in this class unless approved by the Dean of Students office. (Note: This course may no longer be used to fulfill the Legal Writing Requirement.)
