CJU-210 Juvenile Justice
Considers the problems surrounding the legal definition and handling of juveniles who confront the lawas offenders, clients, and victims. Attention is devoted to the study of the special legal categories andprocedures established for juveniles, the problems facing professionals providing juvenile services andthe most significant directions of legal and social change affecting youth in our society. The course willassess how the juvenile justice system addresses individuals labeled as delinquent youth. This includes a thorough examination of various aspects of the juvenile system, such as juvenile courts, residential and non-residential interventions, and alternative approaches to youth issues, including restorative justice and diversion programs.
