Business Analytics and Information Systems, BSBA

Overview

The Business Analytics and Information Systems (BAIS) major is designed to cover the topics in business analytics, and various information systems foundations. It provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to take a leading role in these innovative fields. The curriculum offers flexibility for learners to design their own package of courses or choose one of the concentrations. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and capabilities to obtain employment positions such as data analyst, business analyst, and system analyst.  

 

The BSBA in Business Analytics and Information Systems requires the completion of a minimum of 21 credits (7 classes) in Business Analytics and Information Systems. A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 in the Business Analytics and Information Systems major and a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 overall must be maintained to graduate.

Business Analytics and Information Systems Practicum

Practical data analytics experience prepares learners for real-world challenges in the workplace. All BAIS majors are recommended to work at an internship to gain professional business analytics and information systems experience. Learners have the opportunity to gain this experience on campus through the Student Training Employment Program (https://www.suffolk.edu/about/directory/information-technology-services/students/student-training) or at an organization of their choice.

 

Registration in ISOM-520 or ISOM-560 is required for international learners with F-1 status as part of the approval for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) through the International Students Services Office.
