SBS-HC291 Designing Purpose with AI
This course teaches students to use artificial intelligence as a collaborative partner for solving real-world problems. Students will identify a personal or societal challenge they care about and develop a customized AI assistant or prototype to address it. The curriculum spans three phases: problem discovery and framing techniques, hands-on AI tool exploration including prompt engineering and ethical considerations, and integration of AI into personal career visions and long-term goals. Through workshops, peer feedback, and iterative development, students create their own AI + Me project, a personalized AI companion that serves as both a reflection tool and problem-solving assistant. By course completion, students will have practical skills in problem definition, AI tool integration, and the ability to leverage AI as a thinking partner for their future endeavors. The course emphasizes AI not just as an answer-generating tool, but as a means to ask better questions and develop sustainable focus on meaningful challenges.
