Academic English Policies

Progression Requirements:

  1. Undergraduate students in the Academic English (AE) program must earn a minimum of a C grade in each course to move to the next AE level or chosen undergraduate program.
  2. Graduate students in the Academic English (AE) program must earn a minimum of a B grade in each course to move to the next AE level or chosen graduate program.
  3. Decisions made on progression are made by the Academic Director in consultation with the appropriate dean's office.

Academic Standing:

  1. Should students not receive the necessary grades to progress, they may receive an academic warning, be put on probation or be academically dismissed.
  2. Students may not take more than two semesters of the same AE level or AE course. They cannot repeat any class more than once. If a student does not pass an AE level or AE course after two attempts, he/she will be academically suspended from his/her program and will not be admitted to the University.
