SF-1204 The Age of Renaissance and Reformation
Covers the period 1300-1600, and explores the intellectual and cultural developments of the Renaissance, and of the Protestant and Catholic Reformations in their social, political and cultural contexts. Topics include: the Black Death; Humanism; the rise of the city-state; art and science in the Renaissance; changes in family and social life; the causes of the Reformation (intellectual, social, technological); Calvinists, Lutherans, and Radical Reformers; Counter-Reformation and its political consequences; the Wars of Religion; the age of Elizabeth I of England and Philip II of Spain.
