LAW-2388 Global Law Classroom

Global learning encourages awareness and critical thinking about issues such as law and politics, the environment, wealth and poverty, and cultural similarities and differences. This course introduces the field of comparative and international legal studies by guiding students to explore a topic from different perspectives to fully understand its complexity and to create appropriate solutions. Students will also realize the importance of becoming global citizens by respecting cultural diversity, human rights, and the rule of law. This course will help students develop the core competencies which allow them to actively engage with other future lawyers and global leaders.

The course will be taught by a global consortium of law faculty from the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Students from each of the faculty member’s schools will comprise the Global Law Classroom. The students will work in teams composed of students from other countries, to examine various global issues facing the world today, including a climate-themed negotiation simulation. The course will culminate in a collaborative capstone project, whereby each team will write an advocacy paper and/or do an oral presentation.

The course will be a combination of online synchronous classes with the whole group, as well as seminar meetings with Prof. Kim. The class schedule is Wednesdays, 9:30-11:30 am EST, to align with the various time zones of the participating schools.
