SCI-111 Introduction to Astronomy

History of astronomy from the ancients to Newton; light; telescopes, detectors; the sun, earth, moon, planets, comets, asteroids, meteors; space programs, science and technology in society. Accompanying lab course may include a field trip to an observatory in the greater Boston area, where students will be able to make firsthand observations. Designed for non-science majors.
