LAW-2104 Intellectual Property and Social Justice
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to intellectual property policy, law and doctrines law in view of demands for greater equity and justice in the development and application of intellectual property law and policy. Topics will include the history and development of intellectual property law with a focus on how IP has interacted with marginalized groups, as well as how in IP law, policy, and doctrines have changed to accommodate demands for greater equity and justice in developing and applying IP law and policy on a global scale. Through independent research, students will learn the key skill of writing issue and policy briefs that translate complex legal issues into texts that policymakers and broader audiences can read and use to help address inequities in the IP field.
