HST-273 Travel Seminar: Fashioning a Revolution: The Intersection of the Long 18th Century (American, French, and Haitian and Revolutions)
Through our focus on the life and visual and material culture, we will investigate the changing political and cultural landscape of eighteenth-century that set the course for the three big revolutions of the era. With a focus on the French, American and Haitian Revolutions, the course of our exploration will include of the changing nature of biographical narratives, by examining several different accounts of the life of t famous individuals. We will compare and contrast text and image by viewing films and famous likenesses as well as the discourse of fashion, visual culture and image across three revolutions
