ENG-230 Environmental Writing: Memoir, Science, and Activism
This course explores how writers use rhetoric to shape our understanding of the natural world and our place within it. Students will engage with a range of voices—from scientists and philosophers to memoirists and activists—who reflect ideological and disciplinary diversity. The course is organized around three thematic units: environmental memoir, popular science writing, and political and philosophical analysis of the climate crisis. Students will develop critical tools to analyze how language can shape our understanding of nature and the necessity of our defense of its common value.
