MATH-765 Advanced Statistics
The course provides practical guidance on applying statistical methods to data science. Topics covered include exploratory data analysis, data and sampling distributions, statistical experiments and significance testing, regression and prediction, classification, statistical machine learning, and unsupervised learning. Emphasis will be on methods and problem-solving. Students are expected to be familiar with R or Python and have some exposure to statistics before they take the course.
