MATH-290 Financial Mathematics I

This course is mainly designed for students who are interested in financial mathematics and/or actuarial sciences, especially if they plan to take the second actuarial exam, and/or if they plan to study further in financial mathematics. The materials covered include time value of money, annuities, loans, bonds, cash flows and interest rate sensitivity. If time permits, materials from derivatives markets will be introduced such as general derivatives, options, hedging and investment strategies, forwards and futures, and swaps. Offered every spring.

Student has satisfied all of the following Student has completed all of the following course(s) MATH 165 - Calculus I with grade greater than or equal to C (Undergraduate Grading Scheme). Or Student has satisfied all of the following Student has completed any of the following course(s) MATH 134 - Calculus for Management and Social Sciences with grade greater than or equal to B (Undergraduate Grading Scheme).
