ENVS-360 Environmental Field Methods
This course provides hands-on experience in environmental field research, focusing on the collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data. Students will develop practical skills in ecological surveying, water and soil sampling, species identification, GIS mapping, drones, and environmental monitoring techniques. This course will run over one week the week before Fall courses convene. Field trips to local ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, and coastal areas are integral to the course, offering students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. Emphasis is placed on fieldwork ethics, data accuracy, and collaborative research as well as scientific communication (creating data images and presentations). This course will run during the last week of summer prior to Fall courses (generally the last week of August).
