ENG-151 Introduction to African-American Literature

Literature has the capacity to record and interrogate history in an imaginative and artistic context. African-American literature is a rich, varied, and complex body of literature that faces our tainted history directly. The authors we will read in this class examine slaverys long-term psychological and social effects while forging a literary history that is at once a part of and apart from American literary history more generally.
