BLE-216 Ethical Decision-Making and Action in a Regulated World
This course examines the roles and responsibilities of business within an increasingly interconnected global society. Students explore ethical decision-making models that incorporate multiple perspectives, including diverse cultural worldviews and legal frameworks. Emphasis is placed on understanding how ethical reasoning, regulatory environments, and geopolitical dynamics shape organizational strategy and leadership. Throughout the course, students apply ethical analysis tools to contemporary business challenges such as regulatory compliance, risk management, and cross-border operations. Key topics include antitrust law, artificial intelligence governance, fraud and corruption, the Uniform Commercial Code, employment discrimination, and labor relations. The course culminates in a personal leadership and values component. Students engage in structured self-reflection to clarify their core values, anticipate ethical challenges they may encounter in professional settings, and develop practical strategies for effectively voicing and upholding their values in complex workplace scenarios.
