ENG-302 The World of Bob Dylan
In 2016 Bob Dylan became the first and only singer/songwriter to win the Nobel Prize in Literature for what the committee deemed "new poetic expressions within the great American songbook." This course explores the mystery of Dylan’s lyrics, the mystique of his public persona, and the massive artistic questions of influence, allusion, audience, ideology, intuition, self-fashioning, and fame. The course will explore Dylan’s world not only through his lyrics, but through the musical, historical, and literary influences that created him and that he created.
