THETR-265 Introduction to Theatre: Prehistory to Melodrama
This survey course provides students with an historical, philosophical, and aesthetic overview of theatre practices from the Golden Age of Greek drama to 19th-century melodrama and early experiments in realism. Through readings, lectures, and discussions, the class will explore the theatre's persistent capacity to mirror the societies that produce it. Satisfies a core requirement for Theatre majors.
