SBS-HC365 Becoming a Better Thinker
When was the last time you stopped to think? This course will introduce the concept of system 1 (i.e., intuitive) vs. system 2 (i.e., rational) thinking. Intuitive thinking works via mental shortcuts (i.e., heuristics), which are very quick and efficient but can result in biased and suboptimal judgments. Rational thinking is hard work and takes time, but can result in more logical decisions. Despite these differences, each system of thinking works best in certain situations. We'll review several of the more common heuristics so that you can learn to avoid the traps, mitigate the bias, and become a better thinker.
Prerequisite
Course is restricted to Honors students or students with a 3.2 GPA or higher. Junior status required.
