BLE-324 Sports Ethics & Law
An in-depth study and analysis of the early history and recent developments of ethical dilemmas and corresponding legal implications found within the Sports Industry. The student will enrich their understanding of the "business culture" with both the individual and the organization with discussion on "checks and balances" to avoid future problems and create a business plan with healthy alignments. The various areas of substantive law the student will explore from a business perspective will include contract, antitrust, labor, and intellectual property. This course will also challenge students to learn a path of self-development and be encouraged to clarify and define their values, understanding how the work environment challenges values, and practice ways to defend and give voice to their ethical opinion in different scenarios. Upon completion/certification of the course, students will be uniquely equipped to present themselves to current and prospective employers with an advanced and sound platform for improving and adding stability to ethically motivated companies.
