Law Graduate Degree Integrated Master’s Program for International Students

The Law School offers both one and two-semester Integrated Master’s Programs (IMP) for the Master of Laws and the Master of Laws in Global Law and Technology degrees for qualified international graduate students. The Integrated Master’s Program is only offered in the fall or spring semester.

Law graduate course credits, earned in the Law IMP, will apply to the corresponding graduate degree program once progression requirements are met. Law graduate IMP students must follow all academic policies and complete all requirements to remain within their Law graduate IMP and subsequent LL.M. program. 

Academic Standing for Law Graduate IMP Students

Students in a Law Graduate IMP must maintain a 2.9 GPA to continue in their programs. A student who receives less than the 2.9 GPA is subject to Suffolk University’s academic standing policies as outlined here:

Law Academic Standards for Graduate IMP Students

At the conclusion of each semester, the LL.M. INTO Progression Committee reviews the records of graduate IMP students failing to make satisfactory progress. The Committee may choose to take one of the following actions, or may take other actions specific to the noted deficiency in the student file. Written notification of all actions taken by the Committee is communicated to the student in a timely fashion. Actions may include Dismissal or other conditions imposed by the LL.M. INTO Progression Committee.

Decisions regarding progression will be made by the LL.M. INTO Progression Committee. Before making a decision, the Committee will consult with the INTO-Suffolk Academic Director. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.9 at the end of the IMP to progress.

Formal guidelines for academic performance and consequent actions are as follows:

• Students falling below a cumulative GPA of 2.9 will be reviewed by the LL.M. INTO Progression Committee.
• Students must attain a cumulative GPA of 2.9 or better to progress to the LL.M. degree.

   

  Law Graduate Degree Standard IMP Standards:

• While in the Standard Law Graduate Degree IMP program, students must earn no grade lower than a “B-“ and they cannot earn more than two grades of “B-“ over the course of the two semesters to progress. Students cannot have any “I” or “W” grades. If a student receives a grade less than a “B-” or more than two grades of “B-“ over the two semesters, they will be reviewed under the Law Graduate Programs IMP academic standing policy.

   

  Law Graduate Degree Accelerated IMP Standards:

• While in the Accelerated Graduate Degree IMP program, students must earn no grade lower than a “B-“ and they cannot earn more than one single grade of “B-“ in a semester to progress. Students cannot have any “I” or “W” grades. If a student receives a grade less than a “B-” or more than two grades of “B-“ in a single semester, they will be reviewed under the Law Graduate Programs IMP academic standing policy.
